Evico GmbH

magneto-optical kerr-microscope

Evico magnetics offers an advanced wide-field Kerr microscope for magnetic domain research. Enhanced by image processing and equipped with electromagnets, the Kerr microscope can be used to study domains and magnetization processes in ferro- and ferrimagnetic materials down to the resolution limit of optical microscopy.

The Kerr microscope has been developed by Dr. Rudolf Schäfer and Dr. Jeffrey McCord, who have long-lasting experience in the field. Dr. Schäfer is coauthor of Springer monography Magnetic Domains: The Analysis of Magnetic Microstructure.

The microscope system is highly flexible in terms of magnification, choice of the magneto-optical sensitivity direction, and application of magnetic fields in all directions. It can readily be extended to high- and low temperature observations, and can be applied as an optical magnetometer to measure magnetization curves simultaneously to the recording of domain images or movies. Also quantitative Kerr microsocopy and stroboscopic (time-resolved) microscopy can be implemented (both to be provided by customer).

Also the philosophy of evico magnetics is unique: we offer Kerr microscopy, and not just the microscope system. We are glad to collaborate with our customers on a scientific basis, delivering ongoing help on domain interpretation and advice on optimizing the magneto-optical experiments.
